Neelam Sanjiva Reddy

Former President of India

Neelam Sanjiva Reddy was the sixth President of India, serving from 1977 to 1982. Over the course of a long political career, Reddy held several key offices, as the first and two-time Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, a two-time Speaker of the Lok Sabha and Union Minister. He remains the only person to be elected to the office of the President of India unopposed.

ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ పునర్వవస్థీకరణ బిల్లుకు రాష్ట్రపతి ఆమోదముద్ర వేయడంతో 58 ఏళ్ళ తరువాత అవశేష ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ గా మిగిలిపోయింది. 1956 నవంబర్ 1న ఏర్పడిన రాష్ట్రానికి మొదటి ముఖ్యమంత్రిగా నీలం సంజీవరెడ్డి బాధ్యతలు చేపట్టారు. నాటి నుంచి నేటివరకూ 16 మంది ముఖ్యమంత్రులుగా పనిచేశారు. వీరిలో ఎక్కువమంది రాయలసీమ నుంచి వచ్చిన వారే. సామాజిక న్యాయం అనేది అందని అందలమైంది. ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ జనాభా రీత్యా అత్యధికశాతం బీసీ వోటర్లు ఉన్నా ఒక్కరికి కూడా సీఎంగా అవకాశం దక్కలేదు. ఎస్టీలు

ఎక్కడున్నారో ఎవ్వరికీ తెలియదు. ఎస్సీల్లో ఒక్క దామోదరం సంజీవయ్యకు సీఏంగా పని చేసే అవకాశం దక్కగా.. అదీ మూడేళ్ళ ముచ్చటగానే ముగిసింది.

రెడ్డి సామాజిక వర్గానికి చెందిన 9 మంది సీఎంలుగా పనిచేశారు. కమ్మ కులం నుంచి ముగ్గురు, ఒకరు బ్రాహ్మణ, మరొకరు వైశ్య, వెలమల్లో ఒకరికి ముఖ్యమంత్రిగా పనిచేసే అవకాశం దక్కింది. రాయలసీమ నుంచి ఆరుగురు, కోస్తాంధ్రకు చెందిన ఆరుగురు, తెలంగాణలోని నలుగురు సీఎం కుర్చీని అధిరోహించారు. 16 మందిలో ఎక్కువ రోజులు పనిచేసిన ముఖ్యమంత్రిగా రికార్డు చంద్రబాబు సొంతం అవగా.. అతి తక్కువ రోజులు సీఎంగా వ్యవహరించిన వ్యక్తిగా నాదెండ్ల భాస్కరరావు చరిత్ర సృష్టించారు. అనంతపురం జిల్లావాసి అయిన నీలం సంజీవరెడ్డితో ప్రారంభమైన ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ ముఖ్యమంత్రుల ప్రస్తానం చిత్తూరు జిల్లాకు చెందిన నల్లారి కిరణ్ కుమార్ రెడ్డితో ముగిసింది.

నీలంతో ఆరంభమైన సమైక్యాంధ్రప్రదేశ్ ..నల్లారి పాలనతో అంతమై అవశేషాంధ్రప్రదేశ్ గా మిగిలిపోయింది. రాయలసీమ ప్రాంతానికి చెందిన రెడ్డి సామాజికవర్గ ముఖ్యమంత్రుల హయాంలోనే ఇరుప్రాంతాల విలీనం.. రెండు ప్రాంతాలుగా విభజన జరగడం యాదృచ్చికమే అయినా చరిత్రపుటల్లో స్థానం సంపాదించుకుంది.
